 International Schools

International Summer Schools.

A First Experience Abroad.

In addition to the traditional lectures, students entering the PCCP program will be offered the opportunity to participate in summer schools focusing on various domains of physical chemistry, organized in one of the partner Universities. These schools are great ways to boost up the academic knowledge of first-year students during the summer break and to have a first international experience.

But summer schools are not only a great international experience in terms of high-level education. These schools also offer our students the opportunity to meet fellow students from the partner Universities, to improve their language skills, meet locals, experience a different culture, and much more... Summer schools also offer opportunities to students willing to enter PhD programs.

PREFALC Summer Schools : The historical link between Bordeaux and Latin America.

Because scientific developments in physical chemistry require strong interactions between theory and experiments, chemical modeling has become an essential skill for Master and PhD students. In this regard, several international schools were organized within the framework of the PREFALC program, in which members of the PCCP team in Bordeaux were associated to Latin American teachers to give lectures in theoretical and computational chemistry in several Latin-American Universities.

The first PREFALC school was held in Lima (Peru) in 2013, the second in Quito (Ecuador)  in 2014, and the third one was organized in Bogota (Columbia) in 2015. The excitement of these schools, as well as the productive exchanges between Bordeaux teachers and students and professors of the host universities laid the foundations of the trans-oceanic educational partnership on which the current PCCP program is based.

The 2016 edition is under preparation and will be held in Sao Paulo (Brazil) next July.

3rd PREFALC Seminar. San José, November 2015

Organized by the French Institute of Central America (IFAC) with the support of the Delegation for European and International Relations and Cooperation (DREIC), the 3rd International PREFALC Seminar was held in San José (Costa Rica) on November 11 and 12, 2015, with the aim to assess the results of the PREFALC's  actions and establish the new roadmap for the period 2016-2018.

On this occasion, the results, in terms of education, creation of scientific networks and training of human capital, of the series of summer schools initiated by Bordeaux were jointly presented by Lionel Truflandier (University of Bordeaux), and Javier Torres (Universidad San Fransico de Quito). These experiences were recognized as a great success by the funding institutions, which will continue to support our transatlantic educational actions within the framework of the PCCP network.
